A SUPERB finish from David James has given him the lead during the second round of the weather-affected Stoke by Nayland Club International Open.
James followed up his opening round 71 with a 68 on Wednesday, but needed a brilliant run of five successive birdies to give him a one-stroke cushion.
The Bridgnorth golfer started with three bogeys in his opening six holes, but managed to pull back to just one over par for the day by the turn.
He then produced birdies from the 13th to 17th holes to finish on -5 for the tournament.
Keiran Staunton followed up his 71 with a 69 on Wednesday to move out to -4, and he is joined there by Scot Colin Mitchell, who fired in a 67.
Play was delayed later on Wednesday due to a thunder storm, and a full round-up will be issued in due course.
