His second round included four birdies and an eagle at the fifth hole to put him two shots clear.

Sean Whiffin shot a 69 on Thursday to move out to -5 alongside overnight joint leader Chris Stanley, who was among the players to tee off during the afternoon.

Justin Kehoe, who was level with Stanley after the opening day, slipped to -2 with a three-over-par round of 75.

Mark Banning and David James moved themselves into contention with rounds of 68 on Thursday, with a 70 from Lee Corfield seeing him join James at -3.
