Scotland The Brave!

ZANE SCOTLAND produced a superb round of 64 to apply pressure on the leading pack at The PartyPoker.com Classic on Friday.

Scotland began the final round at Wensum Valley on +4, but was in magnificent form to take himself to four-under-par, only two behind the overnight leaders.

The Woodcote Park star’s round began with a birdie and he added two more at the sixth and eight holes to leave him on 31 shots at the turn.

His consistent play produced four pars before he reeled off five consecutive birdies to end the round at -8, and -4 overall.

He will still require leaders Andrew Marshall and Daniel Gaunt – who teed off at 1pm on -6 – to drop shots to take the £12,000 first prize, but was happy with his performance.

“I’m pretty pleased,” said Scotland, who became the youngest player ever to play in the British Open at 16.

“I think it’s my lowest final round as a professional, so I’m delighted with how I played today.

“I may not end up winning the event – there are some very good players behind me on the course – but it’s a better start than I could have expected.

“I’ve been working hard on my game over the winter and kept saying I can get better, and it came together today.

“I was happy at half-way, but didn’t make much headway early in the back nine, so it was great to see the putts start dropping.”

A further update will be issued at the close of The PartyPoker.com Classic.
