FORMER PGA EuroPro Tour Champion Simon Lilly returns to the tour this week to take part in the fifth event of the season.
Lilly, who finished top of the 2004 order of merit and also clinched the end of year Tour Championships, will be one of 168 players in the latest tournament, which will be held at the Collingtree Park GC, Northampton.
The 30-year-old will be confident of winning the £10,000 top prize as he knows the course well as he is based at nearby Wellingborough.
Lilly (pictured right with the trophy he gained for winning a EuroPro Tour event at Heydon Grange in 2004) normally plays on the Challenge Tour but also has some European Tour experience.
In January 2002 he finished inside the top 70 at the South African Open, among a field that also included Retief Goosen, Ernie Els, Paul Lawrie and Mark McNulty.
However, Lilly faces some tough competition this week as there are a number of talented golfers from Britain and Ireland and also other countries including Italy, Spain, Zimbabwe, Australia and New Zealand.
Graeme Clark and Brian McElhinney, who won the events at Faithlegg and Roganstown respectively, are among the line-up, while Andrew Willey will be hoping for more success after winning at Collingtree Park in 2006.
This competition begins on Wednesday, May 30 and every player will play two rounds with the top 50 and ties advancing into the final round on Friday, June 1.
