British Amateur Champion To Play At Whittlebury Park - 25/06/2007

2005 BRITISH AMATEUR CHAMPION Brian McElhinney will compete in The Peugeot International Open at Whittlebury Park this week.

The Irishman added the British Amateur Championship to his Irish and European wins last year at Royal Birkdale, and played in The Masters earlier in 2006.

The 23-year-old will join 2006 PGA EuroPro Tour winners Andrew Willey and Damian Mooney for the first two rounds of the tournament at Whittlebury Park.

Some plum pairings see recent winners Matthew Richardson and Kevin Harper - who took victory at last week's Prime Time Recruitment Championship - playing together, whith Daniel Gaunt, Chris Hanson and Darren Charlton also partnered.

The trio of Phil Rowe, Neil Walker and James Ruebotham will also spend two rounds together as they look to add a second title of 2006 in Northamptonshire.

Chris Guy, Andy Wapple and Mark Booth will represent Whittlebury Park in the tournament.

Tuesday's Whittlebury Park Pro-Am featured sporting stars Steve Davis, Matt Dawson, Lee Dixon and John Regis.
