GRAEME Clark produced a stunning second day effort to take control of the latest PGA EuroPro Tour event.
Clark (pictured right) was in level third on three-under after Tuesday's play at The Players Club in Bristol but bettered that with a seven-under on Wednesday.
He now has a commanding five-shot lead and is in a great position to win another competition after also finishing first in the third event of the campaign at Faithlegg, Waterford in May.
Elsewhere, Ireland's Brendan McCarroll is on course for his best finish of the year after an impressive second round of five-under.
McCarroll, who is in his debut season on the tour, is in the joint second after a score of 67 followed a level-par 72 on Tuesday.
He still has an outside chance of becoming the fourth different player from the Republic of Ireland to win a 2007 competition after previous successes for countrymen Colm Moriarty, Brian McElhinney and Michael McDermott.
McCarroll won the pre-qualifying event in Fulford at the start of April and then finished fourth in the Final Qualifying phase to earn his tour card. He is currently 65th on the Order of Merit list after top 40 finishes at Collingtree Park, Bovey Castle and Faithlegg.

Elsewhere, a poor 15th hole from Matthew Woods (Donnington Grove), a winner at Bovey Castle, could prove crucial as he registered a double-bogey seven, which left him on the score as McCarroll.
Mark Smith (Erewash Valley) was also on the same total - five under - following rounds of 71 and 68, while Ian Ridgway (High Legh Park) was one shot further back.
Alasdair Hay (Royal Winchester) and Jack Doherty are both on three-under and a top two finish would be the best performance in the tour from any Scottish golfer this season.
A total of 168 competitors were playing in the event, which is sponsored by Claytons Kola Tonic, and the top 50 plus ties have advanced into the final round on Thursday.
