GRAEME Clark has scooped £12,000 by winning the latest event of the PGA EuroPro Tour season.

Clark (pictured right) clinched the prize money, which is the largest for any tournament of the main campaign, apart from the end of season Tour Championships, with three fine rounds.

He ended on 13-under after scores of 67, 66 and 70 and had been in the top three on every day of the competition, which was held at the Faithlegg House Hotel and Golf Club, Waterford, Ireland.

Mark Laskey, 22, who lives in Hertfordshire and is a member of Brocket Hall in Welwyn Garden City, produced a good third round to end in second place.

Laskey, who had been the leader after the first day, finished the tournament in style thanks to an eagle at the tenth and birdies at the seventh, 14th and 16th. However, for the second successive tournament he was left rueing a poor second day that cost him a chance of winning the tournament.

At Roganstown in event two Laskey, a former Welsh Youth Champion, was in tied seventh but a disastrous second round of 80 saw him finish well down the field in a disappointing equal 53rd.

It was a similar story here as a one-over 73 on Thursday proved costly, although a last day 67 saw him end on ten-under for the tournament, three shots behind Clark.

Jason Kelly (Wentworth) came third on nine-under, with Wensum Valley winner Colm Moriarty (Glasson Golf Hotel and Country Club) and Lawrence Dodd (Thetford Golf Club) in tied fourth.

Ireland's Brian McElhinney finished first in the previous event but could not repeat the achievement as scores of 73, 71 and a final day 75, which included a double bogey at the eighth, left him in equal 48th position.

The tour now moves on to Scotland as the fourth event will be held at the Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf and Country Club in Peebles from May 23 to May 25.
