Close Among Wensum Field - 19/03/2008

DAVID CLOSE heads an impressive field for the opening event of the 2005 PGA EuroPro Tour, which begins at Wensum Valley in Norfolk next Wednesday.

Close, who finished fifth in the 2004 Order of Merit, is joined by 25 other players from last year's top 50, including Inder van Weerelt and Michael Welch.

Brett Taylor and Peter Whiteford, who shared the spoils at the Sky Sports Qualifying School in Bedford recently, will also be among the entrants for the £45,000 event.

Lee Gauthier has now turned professional following his impressive showing at the Sky Sports Qualifying School and will also be in the field for the first 54-hole tournament of the season.

Players will also be able to audition for a place on the Big Break IV at Wensum Valley on Monday.
