Course Record Goes At Whittlebury - 26/04/2008

LOW SCORING was the order of the day at Whittlebury Park GC as the field was blown wide open going in to the final round.

Star of the show was Jonathan Herbert (Hinkley) who fired a course record 62 thanks to ten birdies and only one bogey.

However Herbert's opening round of 76 means he is still six shots off the lead with a total score of 138.

The lead is shared between Michael Nesbit (Matfen Hall) and Jack Doherty (Vale of Glamorgan) who are both on 132 (12-under-par).

Nesbit made six birdies and an eagle in an eight-under-par round of 64 as he fired a bogey free round.

Chipping in at the first, the 11th and the 14th, Nesbit took full advantage of two weeks practice following a break from tournament play.

Doherty managed one better, firing a nine-under-par 63 with ten birdies and a bogey.

Australian John Wade is alone in third place on 135 (nine-under-par) after hitting seven birdies and just one bogey in a second round 64 whilst Stuart Manley (Mountain Ash) and overnight joint leader Graham Fox are level fourth on 136.

Seven players are a further shot behind on 137 whilst 62 players made the cut at one-under-par.
