Dicks Joins PGA EuroPro Tour Hopefuls - 06/05/2007

FORMER Premiership football star Julian Dicks is among almost 400 players who will compete in Stage One of the 2007 PartyPoker.com Qualifying School this week.

Dicks, a former Birmingham, West Ham and Liverpool star, will compete at Stoke-by-Nayland in the two-round First Stage, which began on Wednesday morning.

A knee injury previously hampered Dicks' hopes of moving into professional golf following his retirement from football.

The Bedford, Beau Desert and Fulford are also be hosting Stage One, with leading players progressing to next week's Final Stage at Frilford Heath, Oxfordshire.

Warren Bladon, who qualified for The Open last year, is among the 89 competitors at Beau Desert.

The Bedford will welcome Ireland's Brian McElhinney, who is a former British Amateur Champion and Walker Cup player.
