Duo Edge Ahead After Round One - 07/01/2008

CHRIS STANLEY and Justin Kehoe share the lead following the first round of The Swallow Suffolk Open, after carding five-under-par rounds of 67 on Wednesday.

Stanley (pictured) , who represents Century Lighting, took the early advantage on the opening morning, carding five birdies in a faultless start to the tournament.

Irishman Kehoe dropped just one shot in his round, at the 16th hole, but joins Stanley at -5 following six birdies.

They are a shot clear of Ian Ridgway, Mark Fairhall and Jack Doherty, who all impressed with rounds of 68.

Ridgway and Doherty hit six birdies each, although that total was surpassed by Fairhall, who carded seven but also had three bogeys.

Essex starlet Brett Taylor and New Zealander Richard Squire shot rounds of 69 to place themselves ahead of a congested chasing pack.

Nine players sit on -2 going into the second round, with 13 a further shot back and ten opening with a level par 72.
