Duo Handed European Tour Call-Up - 23/10/2007

SIMON ROBINSON and Phil Worthington have joined Kieran Staunton in making their debuts on the European Tour at the dunhill championship in South Africa.

Both Robinson and Worthington (pictured) earned late call-ups to the event, which began on Thursday morning at Leopard Creek.

Staunton, who won his Category 11 European Tour Card at Qualifying School last month, shot a four-over-par 76 for his opening round.

Shortly after he finished, play was suspended for over two hours due to thunderstorms, although play was able to restart later on Thursday afternoon.

The trio join a number of other former PGA EuroPro Tour players, such as Richard Finch, Lee Slattery and James Hepworth, in stepping up to the European Tour.
