Early Lead For Staunton - 25/12/2007

KIERAN STAUNTON has set the early pace at The Peugeot International, shooting a three-under-par 68 at Marriott Hollins Hall.

The Woodcote Park golfer (pictured) was among the early starters at the PGA EuroPro Tour event in Baildon, dropping just one shot in his first round.

He sat at level par following his first nine holes before landing three birdies on the back nine to edge clear.

Leeds-based European Tour golfer Iain Pyman is one of three players a shot behind at -2, alongside Stoke Park's Jeremy Kavanagh and Woburn's Sam Jarman.

Eamonn Brady, Phil Rowe, Lee Rhind, David Close and Philip Abbott all shot a one-under-par 70, with eight players level for their opening round.

A further update will be issued at the close of play.
