€100,000 Event To Be Staged In Azores - 11/10/2007

THE PGA EuroPro Tour will stage the €100,000 Verde Golf Azores Championship at the Batalha Golf Club from 11-13 May.

The tour will continue its expansion by heading to the beautiful Azores, which are situated off the west coast of Portugal.

Batalha GC is situated on the north coast of San Miguel Island, between Ponta Delgada and Ribeira Grande.

The course is over 7,000 yards long and also stages the Azores Open, which was won last year by European Tour star Gary Murphy.

"We are delighted to be taking the PGA EuroPro Tour to the stunning island of San Miguel in the Azores," said Managing Director Eddie Hearn.

"It is a stunning venue and the golf course is fantastic - a true test.

"I would like to thank Verde Golf, Oceanico and the Siram Group for their support and with a prize fund of €100,000 - this makes the Verde Golf Azores Championship one of the key tournaments in the 2006 schedule."

The tournament will be staged from 11-13 May, with a two-day pro-am preceding the main 54-hole event.
