EuroPro Tour stars in sight of the big time - 07/12/2011
A host of past and present PGA EuroPro Tour players are only one step away from playing alongside the world’s elite on the main European Tour.
Nearly 20 players who have competed in EuroPro Tour events have advanced to the final stage of European Tour School where they will battle to secure Tour cards for the 2012 season. Luke Goddard. Picture: Lawrence Lustig
The full list of players is: Phillip Archer, Graeme Clark (current member), Scott Drummond, Paul Dwyer, Daniel Gaunt, Jordan Gibb, Luke Goddard (current member, pictured), Branden Grace, Tyrrell Hatton (current member), David Higgins, Lloyd Kennedy, Jason Levermore (current member), Sam Matton (current member), Cian McNamara, John E Morgan, Peter Richardson, Lloyd Saltman and Elliot Saltman.
Luke Goddard was the star of the show as he finished joint first at the Costa Ballena Open Club in Spain, one of four venues for the second qualifying stage.
Goddard and the rest of the EuroPro Tour players will be among a field of more than 150 men who will each play six rounds at the PGA Catalunya Resort in Girona, Spain from December 10 to 15.
A place in the top 30 at the end of that competition will secure their spots on the 2012 European Tour.
Danny Nickless, Operations Manager for the PGA EuroPro Tour, said: “The fact these players have qualified for the final stage of European Tour School and all been members of the EuroPro Tour, many from last year, just goes to show once again how strong the tour is and the value the tour holds by really producing the stars of tomorrow.
“I wish all the players the best of luck in gaining their European Tour cards.”
