Ex Tour man Morrison claims maiden European Tour win - 14/04/2010

Former EuroPro tour player James Morrison fought off a final round charge from Oliver Fisher to claim his maiden European Tour win at the Madeira Open BPI Portugal by one shot at 20 under.

Morrison carded rounds of 67, 65 and 66 to lead by three shots going into the final round, but Fisher raced to five under through the turn to close the gap on Morrison. Fisher eventually recorded a seven under par 65 but Fisher held his nerve after opening with bogey's at the first and third to card a round of 70 for his one stroke win and a winner's cheque of €116,600.

Two other former Tour players finished well on Portugal, with John Parry - tenth on the order of merit in 2008 - finishing tied for ninth spot and Simon Thornton - ninth in 2008 - tied for 13th.

Morrison (pictured at Wensum Valley) played eight events on the PGA EuroPro Tour in 2007, sharing fourth spot at Collingtree Park.
