Fox Has Scent Of Victory - 28/10/2007
GRAHAM FOX holds a one-shot lead going into the final day of the 2005 Oceanico Tour Championship, putting himself in line for a bumper £20,000 pay-day.
Fox shot a superb 69 on a blustery afternoon at Palmares GC on Portugal's Algrave to move out to -7 in the final event of the PGA EuroPro Tour season.
The Scotsman, one of four players to shoot a five-under-par 66 in his first round, hit two birdies in his first five holes in a determined start.
He slipped back to level par for the day with bogeys at nine and ten, but birdies at 11 and 17 saw him recover to end on seven under par.
Fox is a shot clear of Zane Scotland and Graham Rankin, who shot 70 on Friday and recovered from three bogeys on the back nine to birdie the final hole.
Scotland was particularly disappointed not to hold a share of the lead, bogeying the 18th to slip back to -6 after a good afternoon in testing conditions.
Seven players sit two shots behind the leading group on -4, with Daniel Gaunt and Phil Rowe jumping up the leaderboard after rounds of 68.
Graeme Clark, Lee Rhind and Daniel Wardrop (69, 69) matched their opening rounds, while Mark Smith and Barry Hume were level par for the day.
Richard Johnson, Jason Levermore, Graham Gordon, Stephen Pullan and Martin Sell remain in the hunt at -3 going into Saturday's decisive final round.
