Global Appeal For EuroPro Tour - 09/04/2008

PLAYERS from as far afield as Fiji and New Zealand are hoping to make the breakthrough in the 2005 PGA EuroPro Tour.

There are just nine days remaining for players to get their application forms in for Stage One of the Sky Sports Qualifying School, with record numbers already signed up to try their luck against the top young stars in the sport.

This year has seen the widest spread of applicants in the PGA EuroPro Tour's history, demonstrating the worldwide appeal of the tour to ambitious golfers.

Fijian Vereti Rokotavaga, representing Fiji GC and who will base himself in Middlesex throught the season, is among those to enter the Sky Sports Qualifying School.

He turned professional on Christmas Eve last year, and hopes that 2005 can see him make the breakthrough.

Entries have also come in from New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and even Qatar from players hoping to follow the likes of Lee Westwood onto the PGA and European Tours.

From closer to home, entrants include Irish-based Finn Jussi Pitkanen and Frenchman Massonnat Yan.
