Grewal Leading After Two Days - 05/07/2007

SANDEEP GREWAL holds a one-shot lead going into the final day of The Sweeney's Environmental Classic at Stonebridge.

The Heswall star followed up his opening round 62 with a one-under-par 68 on Thursday to maintain his cushion at -8.

After dropping no shots on the opening day, he did have bogeys at the sixth and 12th holes to partner birdies at four, seven and 11.

Grewal sits a shot clear of Matt Morris and Matthew Richardson going into the third and final day of the PGA EuroPro Tour event.

Morris produced an excellent 64 on Thursday, including eight birdies, to move out to -7, while Richardson dropped only one shot in a fine 66.

A 66 from Joe Templer put him alongside Jon Lupton (65,68) at -5, with former European Tour member Warren Bennett and home professional Darren Murphy among four players sat a further shot back.

Graeme Clark produced the day's best round with a 63 to put him on to -2 alongside 11 other players, who include 2006 PGA EuroPro Tour winners James Ruebotham and Neil Walker.

55 players made the cut at +1 to move into the final day, with 2005 Tour Champion Mark Smith among three players to scrape through with a 67 on day two, while Nathan Treacher followed up a 74 with a round of 65 to qualify.
