Johnson Shoots Clear - 07/12/2007
Richard Johnson holds a two-stroke lead going into the final day of The PokerMillion.Com Classic at Maylands GC.
Johnson, a regular on the Nationwide Tour who was a sponsor's invitation to the PGA EuroPro Tour event in Essex, followed up his opening round 67 with a brilliant 64 on Friday.
That round, including eight birdies, saw the Welshman - the son of PGA Professional David - move out to -11 for the tournament and give him a two-shot lead from Padraig Dooley and Warren Bennett.
Dooley, the overnight leader after shooting a 64 on Thursday, hit a 69 for his second round, while ex-European Tour player Bennett continued his comeback from injury with a 67 to take him out to -9.
Rising star Zane Scotland (66,68) is a further stroke behind, alongside Mark Fairhall (68,66).
Guy Woodman, Michael Searle and Alex Smith sit on -7, with Michael Welch alone on -6 going into Saturday's final round.
Amateur Terry Nicholls, at -4, was among the 60 players to make the cut, which was set at level par.
