Lee's Longest Drive - 01/07/2008

75 players lined up to each give it their best two shots. The conditions for each shot were that the ball had to travel at least 250 yards and that it had to hit the fairway.

After this initial round, the 15 players who had hit the ball furthest returned for another go. This was then whittled down to seven, who went on to the final.

The final took on a "sudden death" format, whereby each player took a shot, and any player who missed the fairway or hit the shortest drive went out of the competition.

One by one, players were eliminated until in the end, it came down to just two players: Sam Pigott, who won the PGA Europro Tour event at Marriott Tudor Park last month, and Lee Slattery (pictured). With Pigott missing the fairway, Slattery was left with a routine drive for victory, and scooped the £1000 first prize!

The competition raised £150 to help fund golf tuition for local children.
