Low Scoring Start At Mollington - 30/07/2007
JASON DRANSFIELD and David Price share the lead following the opening round of The GMS Classic at Mollington GC in Cheshire.
The pair recorded excellent six-under-par rounds of 65 on Wednesday to earn a one-shot lead from James Ruebotham.
Dransfield, who represents the local Royal Liverpool course, recovered from dropping a shot on his opening hole to hit seven birdies in his round.
Welshman Price also recorded seven birdies in his round, with his only blemish being a bogey at the 17th.
Ruebotham recorded a flawless 66 to sit clear in third place ahead of David Fisher, Paul Hendricksen and Kevin Harper.
David Close, Andrew Willey, Sean Doherty and South Africa's James Kamte opened with rounds of 68 to move to -3.
Thirteen players sit at -2, including David Astin, who shot a hole-in-one at the par three 175 yard sixth as he recovered from being +4 at one stage with four birdies and that eagle.
A total of 55 players recorded a par or better score on Wednesday to set a low projected cut.
