Marfin Popular Bank to sponsor Tour Championships - 28/09/2010
MARFIN Popular Bank will be the title sponsors of the biggest event in the EuroPro Tour schedule – The Tour Championships.
The three-day event, which will be staged at Aphrodite Hills, Cyprus from Thursday to Saturday, features the top 60 players from the regular season all vying for the €20,000 top prize.
Competition will be fierce as the professionals will be aiming to finish well and claim a high position in the Order of Merit and secure a spot on next season’s Challenge Tour.
Those who end in the top six on the end of season money list will advance to the higher level, but that will change to the top seven if Craig Lee, who has already claimed a spot on next year’s Challenge Tour, also finishes in the top six.
Danny Nickless, Operations Manager for the PGA EuroPro Tour, said: “It is fantastic news that Marfin Popular Bank have decided to become Title Sponsors of the biggest golfing event to ever take place in Cyprus.
“We’re delighted that another great company has decided to get involved with the Tour and we look forward to what promises to be a very exciting week.”
The tournament will now be known as The Marfin Popular Bank EuroPro Tour Championship 2010.
Andrew Darker, Operations Manager of Aphrodite Hills Golf, Cyprus, added: "The Marfin Popular Bank has been a strong supporter of the Aphrodite Hills Resort from its fruition in 2002.
"The unique association of brands with quality, high performance and efficiency is very fitting: as hosts to the first ever professional golf tournament to be held in Cyprus we are delighted that they will bring these valuable attributes to the PGA EuroPro Tour Championship at Aphrodite Hills.
"We are positive the impact to the local golf market will be considerable and we will work to continue this long-term partnership with the Marfin Popular Bank”
