Marmion in control at The Players Club - 01/01/1970

Dale Marmion is in a strong position ahead of the final round of the Ivobank PGA EuroPro Tour Yes! Classic at The Players Club in Bristol - four shots clear at nine under.

Marmion (Eaton, pictured) was five under going into Wednesday's second round and improved slightly on that by going down the front nine at one under. It was down the back that he did the damage though, recovering from a bogey at the 11th with an eagle at 12 then stringing three straight birdies together from 14 to shoot 66.

Lloyd Kennedy (Chelmsford GC) was right on his heels after starting on the back nine and tearing it up just like Dale. Kennedy bagged six birdies with one bogey on the back and looked like sitting right on the leader's shoulder in the final round until a double bogey at the 9th saw him post 67 to move to five under.

Order of Merit leader Noel Fox (Team Ireland - MMI) will have a big say in the final round after three birdies in the last six holes contributed to a 70 that has him three under for the tournament, where he is joined by fellow countryman Alan Murray (Greystones GC).

Sean Doherty (Bury) shot 67 to move to two under for the tournament, alongside Justin Kehoe (Ireland) who shot 69, and a cluster of players sit at one under, including Michael Hempstock (Doncaster), Lorne Kelly (Pro Dream USA) and Chris Hanson (Crosland Heath/GO2SPORT.com).

Overnight leader Graham Gordon (SWM Golf Management) endured a tough day, opening with a double bogey and recording another on the 14th to shoot 77 and drop to level par after starting at six under.
