McLeary Slips In Scottish Challenge - 12/08/2007

AFTER sharing the lead at the half-way stage of the Scottish Challenge, Jamie McLeary saw his hopes of victory at Murcar Links GC slip over the weekend.

The PGA EuroPro Tour member shared the lead at -9 following two rounds of the Challenge Tour event with Chris Doak.

However, successive three-over-par rounds of 74 on Saturday and Sunday saw McLeary finish tied 14th at -3.

Sam Walker took victory by six shots after ending on -18, with Gareth Wright and Doak - all players with PGA EuroPro Tour experience - at -12 and -11 respectively,

Wales' Stuart Manley and Scotsman Murray Urquhart, other players to have appeared on the PGA EuroPro Tour, finished among the players on -2.

Kieran Staunton, Inder van Weerelt and Peter Whiteford were among a group of players to end the event on +2.

A host of PGA EuroPro Tour members step up their challenge for a place in The Open on Monday and Tuesday, with the second stage of qualifying taking place.
