New Zealander Boult Takes Lead - 03/07/2008
New Zealander Elliott Boult (Matchroom) has taken the lead after setting a new course record with a fantastic nine under par score of 63. This breaks the previous record of 64 set by Craig Lee in the first round of this tournament! Boult carded an eagle on the 14th, eight birdies and just one bogey to go to twelve under for the tournament.
Just one shot behind lie Ian Keenan (Royal Liverpool) and Craig Lee (Balmore). Keenan shot a four under par second round score of 68 and Lee shot a 69 to finish eleven under for the tournament
South African Gerlou Roux (Belville) shot another impressive five under par 67 to end the second round ten under par for the tournament and in fourth position.
Incredibly, there were two holes-in-one during the second round. South African Thomas Aiken found the pin with a four iron on the 234 yard eleventh, while Marty Smith produced the goods on the 209 yard eighteenth. Both players have earned a place in the Tour Championship and the Peugeot Hole-in-One Challenge as a result. The winner of this nearest the pin shoot out will take away a brand new Peugeot 206SW!
The cut was made with scores of 143 (-1) and better being good enough to go through to third and final round. 56 players will go on to compete for the £40,000 prize fund.
