Pair Share Lead At Hollins Hall - 29/06/2007
MATT MORRIS and Richard Edginton share a one-shot lead at the end of the first round of The Prime Time Recruitment Championship at Marriott Hollins Hall.
Morris, who represents National Energy Windows, hit seven birdies in a five-under-par round of 66, only dropping shots at the ninth and 16th holes.
Effingham player Edginton shot four birdies before the turn and added two more on the back nine, only dropping a shot at the 14th.
They sit a shot clear of Scotland's Paul Doherty, who hit six birdies in a four-under-par 67.
Nine players, including Hollins Hall duo James Sibbles and Brian Rumney and Yorkshire-based trio Graeme Clark, Chris Hanson and David Astin, are a further shot back after opening with rounds of 68.
A further 16 hopefuls - including 2006 PGA EuroPro Tour winners Phil Rowe, Neil Walker and Andrew Willey, as well as last year's Tour Champion - are sat at -2.
A total of 60 players scored at par or better on the opening day, with the top 50, plus ties, after Thursday's second round progressing to play for the £40,000 prize fund on Friday.
