PGA EuroPro Tour Stars Excel - 17/06/2007
32 PGA EUROPRO TOUR members have progressed to Second Stage of European Tour Qualifying School following the first phase of the event last week. 
Section A of First Stage Qualifying took place at The Oxfordshire, Chart Hills and Arlandastad in Sweden, with a total of 92 players moving into Second Stage.
Francis McGuirk finished ahead of the field in the Chart Hills qualifier with rounds of 65, 68, 68 and 66 - despite being ready to leave the course at any stage should his wife go into labour with their second child.
He was four shots ahead of fellow PGA EuroPro Tour player James Ruebotham, while Paul McKechnie, David Clark, Sean Whiffin and Ally Mellor were also placed in the top ten.
Simon Robinson - a treble winner on the 2005 PGA EuroPro Tour - joined Matthew Richardson tied in 14th, with Ben St John, Gary Donnison and Matt Ford finishing a shot further back at -9.
David Porter led throughout to win with a total of -18 at The Oxfordshire with rounds of 64, 67, 69 and 70, a shot ahead of Euan Little and four clear of third-placed Barry Hume.
Daniel Wardrop and James Whatley finished at -9, with David Addison and Jason Kelly a shot back.
Paul Doherty, David Fisher, Matthew Cort, Sandeep Grewal, David James, Jason Levermore, Adam Frayne, Lee Gauthier, Graeme Clark and James Conteh were among the other PGA EuroPro Tour members to qualify from The Oxfordshire.
"We are really proud of our members' performance at Qualifying School," said PGA EuroPro Tour Managing Director Eddie Hearn.
"32 is a huge number to have progress to Stage Two, remembering that a large bulk of our members will be playing at Section B next week.
"Qualifying school is such a big part of any player's season and we are delighted that our players have shown the steel needed to progress.
"It goes to show that the environment we provide on the PGA EuroPro Tour gives them a much greater chance to succeed under this type of pressure."
Second B will be played at St Annes Old Links, Golf de Moilets in France and Circolo Golf Bogogno in Italy.
The Second Qualifying Stage will be from 1-4 November in Spain, with Final Qualifying Stage being held from 9-14 November at San Roque.
