Pigott Holds His Nerve For Victory - 05/05/2008
SAM PIGOTT held his nerve to take the title at The China Fleet International Open and claim his second career PGA EuroPro Tour victory. 
Pigott, attached to West Malling, hit a final round of 69 to take him to 203 13-under-par for the tournament after earlier scores of 68 and 66.
Despite a double bogey and two bogeys on the last day, Pigott was able to hold off the challenge of Richard Sadler, who was never out of the top two from start to finish.
"I'm over the moon, beamed Pigott. "I'm so happy to have won at last this season as I started off slowly.
"But I've been seeing a sports mind coach and that's given me confidence and belief in my game and my ability to win.
"I birdied the third and eagled the sixth so I was in a strong position, especially after I hit a second birdie, but a few bogeys on the back nine made things tense!
Sadler (Mullion) also shot a 69 but missed short putts at holes 13 and 14 cost him any chance of victory.
Pigott pocketed £10,000 for his efforts, and Sadler took home £5,000, whilst Ciaran McMonagle (Dunfaghy GC) and South African Michiel Bothma (Swallow Hotels) each claimed £2,162 for sharing third place.
The pair ended on 207 nine-under-par for the tournament with McMonagle hitting a 68 to round off his three days work, whilst Bothma shot a third straight 69 for his second highest finish of the season.
Behind that, Andrew Willey (Nottingham City/Tiny Dog Records) eagled the last to move up the leaderboard and Barry Austin, who qualified for the event through a regional PGA qualifier, also finished well for a level par final round.
