Pigott's Flying Start! - 06/07/2008

Sam Pigott (West Malling) set the standard at the Matchroom Golf Management International with a sensational seven under par score of 63. Pigott got off to a flying start by eagling the very first hole and went on to sink a further five birdies to give him his seven under par total.

Two shots behind Pigott lie Matthew Griffiths (CRL Sports Management), Stephen Pullan (Wike Ridge), Liam Bond (Marriott St Pierre), David James (Bridgnorth GC), Colin Mitchell (A Proctor Group), Graham Rankin (Drumpellier), South African Thomas Aiken and New Zealander Elliott Boult (Matchroom). All of these played impressive first rounds to record five under par scores of 65.

Female amateur star Danielle Masters struggled to find the form that secured her second place in the Marriott Tudor Park Pro Am, and carded a six over par score of 76 in the first round. This included birdies on the thirteenth and eighteenth holes, four bogeys and unfortunately two double bogeys in her last few holes. However, there is still one more round to play before the cut is made which could enable Danielle to make an impression on the men.
