Q School stage one nearing conclusion - 01/04/2010

The first stage of Q School for the 2010 PGA EuroPro Tour comes to a close on Thursday evening, with over 300 golfers tackling three courses in order to reach the final stage at Frilford Heath, Oxfordshire, next week.

The action at The Players Club in Bristol has finished, with 56 players making it through to the final stage. James Heath and Ryan Thomas (Aberdare) led the way at four under for their two rounds with the poor weather suffered around the country playing a major factor at all three venues. The final result from Bristol can be viewed here.

There is plenty of play left at both Stoke by Nayland in Essex and De Vere Oulton Hall in Leeds, where the final two qualifiers are being held. Scott Henry sits on top of the leaderboard at Oulton Hall, following a three under par opening round of 68 with a 72 in his second round to finish stage one at two under. Haminder Matharu (Cookridge Hall) and Alex Belt currently sit tied in second spot after completing their 36 holes level - both following rounds of 70 with final efforts of 72. Several players are still to complete their second rounds - the full leaderboard from Leeds is here.

Amateur James Webber (Three Rivers GC) will be at Frilford Heath from 7-9 April and currently leads the way at Stoke by Nayland at two under par thanks to back-to-back rounds of 71. Like Oulton Hall, there is still plenty of golf left to be played in Essex, click here for the full leaderboard.
