Quinta da Marinha Oitavos Golfe Pro Am - 11/07/2008
The Quinta da Marinha Oitavos Golfe Pro Am took place on Monday 16th June, with thirty teams battling it out on a truly stunning course. Guests included the owner of the course, Miguel Champalimaud, PGA Europro Tour Chairman Barry Hearn and six times World Snooker Champion Steve Davis.
The event was won by Craig Lee, teamed with amateurs Peter Brito e Cunha, Manuel Castelo Branco and Frederico Simoes de Almeida who together put together an excellent score of 87. The team were declared winners over Stephen McGavin's team by back nine card playoff.
In the evening, guests were treated to an exhibition of trickshots by cuemaster Steve Davis. Despite his reputation as a snooker player and his standing as one of the UK's most popular sports personalities, Steve's trickshot routine was something else. In addition to keeping the guests entertained with his chit-chat, Davis set up a series of difficult trickshots - some of which even worked!
The Pro Am took place in advance of the professional tournament, which will run from 18th - 20th June. Players will be competing for a massive prize fund of €92,000 - the biggest of the season so far! Results (Using Stableford Scoring) - Top 5 Teams
