Rowe Toughs Out Slender Lead - 21/08/2007

PHIL ROWE holds a slender lead following the eventual completion of the first round of The Kronenbourg Classic at Whitekirk GC in Scotland. Play was suspended on the opening day of the PGA EuroPro Tour event due to gale force winds, with the first round being concluded on Thursday.

Trevose player Rowe shot an eagle and two birdies in a well-controlled 69, dropping just one shot to hit the lead at -3.

He is a shot clear of Carnoustie's Eric Ramsay, who carded a two-under-par 70.

Fraser Mann, Scott Jackson, Graham Rankin and Andrew Paisley all sit a further stroke back at -1, with five players opening with level par rounds of 72.

With conditions clearing in Scotland, the second round began on Thursday as planned but will be completed on Friday morning.

The top 50 players, plus ties, at that point will begin the third and final round on Friday.
