Rowlands Moves Into Lead - 01/10/2007

NEIL ROWLANDS leads by two shots going into the third and final round of the 2006 PGA EuroPro Tour Qualifying School Second Stage at Frilford Heath.

A total of 133 players made the cut to progress to the third round at Frilford Heath following two rounds, one on the Red Course and one on the Blue Course at the Oxfordshire venue.

Rowlands shot an excellent 67 on Wednesday, landing four birdies and dropping no shots in a flawless round to add to his opening round 68.

He leads by two shots from Danny Sturgeon (TGM Custom Golf), who shot a five-under-par 68 on the Red Course on Wednesday, including five birdies on the back nine.

Matthew Dearden (Vale Hotel Golf & Spa Resort) is a further shot back at -6 after posting a level par 71 on the Blue Course to add to his opening round 67.

Ireland's Ciaran McMonagle, Sam Robinson (Blankney) and Damian Mooney (Nevada Bobs Belfast) all sit on -5, with eight players tied on -4.

The cut was set at +5, with Finland's Jussi Pitkanen among the 18 players tied on that score after following up his opening round 79 with a 70 on Wednesday.
