WELSHMAN Alex Smith continued his good start to the 2007 PGA EuroPro Tour season with a hole-in-one in Roganstown.

The second event of the campaign began earlier today and Smith, who represents Pyle and Kenfig, hit a perfect shot with a seven iron on the par-three 187-yard 17th.

That helped Smith (pictured right) record a first round par score of 71 on the opening day of the Oceanico Group Irish Challenge.

This score will set him up well for tomorrow and a similar round should be enough to see him make the cut for the second successive time this season.

Smith finished inside the top ten last week at Wensum Valley in Norfolk as his total of +1 left him in equal ninth and saw him collect £800 in prize money.
