Smith Poised For Glory - 27/10/2007

MARK SMITH looks set to take victory in the PGA EuroPro Tour's 2005 Oceanico Tour Championship after a stunning round of 63 on Saturday saw him move out to -7.

Smith, who represents Erewash Valley and Matchroom Golf, produced a scintillating back nine to surge five shots clear of the field.

After being sat on -4 overnight, he had moved a further two strokes back after nine holes at Palmares.

He then hit three birdies in four holes to move ahead of overnight leader Graham Fox at -9.

Incredibly, he then saw his second shot at the par four 16th land directly in the hole for an eagle, before picking up a birdie at 17.
