Spence & Evans Share Ladbrokes.com Masters Lead - 24/02/2007
JAMIE SPENCE and Justin Evans share a one-shot lead at the Ladbrokescasino.com Masters going into the final day at Selsdon Park GC.
Evans, the first round leader, dropped back to -5 with a 71 on Wednesday in tricky conditions at the PGA EuroPro Tour event in Surrey.
He dropped five shots following a superb opening round 64, with an eagle and two birdies helping him stay at the head of the field.
He is joined in the lead by experienced double European Tour winner Spence, who followed up his opening round of 66 with a 69 on day two of the event.
Spence dropped six shots during his round, but hit five birdies and an eagle to move out to -5.
Craig Billing's fine 67 saw him join Lee Harper (67,69) and Lloyd Kennedy (65,71) at -4, with Andrew Willey well placed a further shot back following a level par 70 on Wednesday.
Welshman Alex Smith produced the best round of the day with a 66 - hitting five birdies and dropping only one shot - to move to two-under-par, alongside Nathan Treacher (65,73) and James Mason (69,69).
PGA EuroPro Tour Order of Merit leader Graeme Clark maintained his position at -1 with a level par 70 for his second round, and he is joined by Brian McElhinney and Matthew Ford at that score.
A total of 51 players will compete on day three for the £10,000 winner's cheque, with the cut eventually made at +6.
