Superb Seven Take Next Step - 02/11/2007

SEVEN players with experience on the PGA EuroPro Tour earned their Tour Cards for the 2006 PGA European Tour when Final Stage Qualifying School ended in Spain.

After a gruelling 108 holes at San Roque, Tom Whitehouse (pictured) took a two-shot victory at -13 from Robert Rock.

Third place went to David Griffiths, a winner on the 2004 PGA EuroPro Tour, while Shaun Webster was tied fourth on -5.

Ross Fisher and Oliver Whiteley shared 14th place to earn their Category 11b membership of the European Tour.

And Kieran Staunton was among ten players to earn the final places of the 32 at +4.

There was disappointment, though, for Jamie Little, who lipped out on the final hole and finished on +5 - one shot away from glory.

"We're delighted for every player who has achieved their PGA European Tour Card," said PGA EuroPro Tour Managing Director Eddie Hearn.

"That is undoubtedly every players' aim when they initially join the PGA EuroPro Tour, and it gives us great pride to have played some part in their development.

"Hopefully they will now take the next step in their careers and enjoy many successful years on the European Tour.

"This is also a reminder to aspiring players who are considering entering the Sky Sports Qualifying School for the 2006 PGA EuroPro Tour of how successful you can be with the right attitude, application and development."
