The Azores Tour Championship Confirmed - 02/07/2007
THE 2006 PGA EuroPro Tour season will come to an end at The Azores Tour Championship, which will be held at Batalha GC from 21-23 October.
The PGA EuroPro Tour has already visited Batalha GC in 2006, and will return to the Azores for the €100,000 Tour Championship.
The top 50 players, plus ties, in the PGA EuroPro Tour Order of Merit after The MCP Classic at Ufford Park will compete in the tournament.
They will also be joined by any players to hit a hole-in-one during the 2006 PGA EuroPro Tour - with only David Astin and Kenny Stephenson achieving the feat to date.
"We are delighted to be returning to Batalha Golf Club for The Azores Tour Championship," said PGA EuroPro Tour Managing Director Eddie Hearn.
"The course was excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed the Verde Golf Azores Championship earlier this year.
"We would also like to thank Oceanico for their continued support of the PGA EuroPro Tour and the young professionals making their way towards the European Tour."
Damian Mooney won the Verde Golf Azores Championship back in May by four shots to take victory, and he currently heads the Order of Merit.
The tournament will be followed on 25 and 26 October by a Pro-Am, with players not travelling to Stage Two of European Tour Qualifying School.
The top 20 players in the Order of Merit will also be invited to take part in the Sata Open at Batalha from 16-19 October, with the event having a €40,000 prize fund.
Players competing in The Azores Tour Championship will have a practice day on Friday 20 October.
Accommodation will be available at €48 for a single room and €60 for a twin, and details of flights will be available shortly.
