Tour Championship Places Up For Grabs - 14/11/2007
THE PGA EuroPro Tour heads to Ufford Park in Suffolk for the final regular tournament of the 2005 season, with places in the Tour Championship up for grabs when the event begins on Wednesday.
The 2005 Ufford Park Classic will be the last event before November's Tour Championship in Portugal, which will involve the top 50 players in the PGA EuroPro Tour Order of Merit challenging for the £20,000 first prize from a £75,000 prize fund.
Simon Robinson currently heads the Order of Merit, with his unprecedented three wins this year helping him to earn almost £36,000.
Mark Smith and John Wade - who won at the Suffolk course 12 months ago (pictured) - can still surpass that mark should they take home the £10,000 winner's cheque on Friday afternoon following the third and final round at Ufford Park.
Further down the Order of Merit, the battle for places in the top 50 is fierce, with Padraig Dooley currently occupying the final place with £3,753 earned this year - just £3 more than closest rival James Hepworth.
That means every player to play at Ufford Park has a chance to qualify for the Tour Championship should they secure a high-placed finish in the event.
Joining the top 50 players at the Tour Championship will be the players who have shot a hole in one this year, who will enter the 'Peugeot Hole In One Shootout' to win a brand new Peugeot car - giving a further late chance for players to earn a place in Portugal.
The 2005 Ufford Park Classic will also feature home golfer Stuart Robertson, as well as seeing players return from the first stage of European Tour Qualifying School to the PGA EuroPro Tour for perhaps the final time.
