SURREY'S Nathan Treacher produced a fine recovery on the second day of the seventh PGA EuroPro Tour event of the season.
Treacher (pictured right) was in danger of not competing in the final round after a score of two-over on Tuesday, but he responded in fine fashion with a four-under second round of 68, a score better than any player produced yesterday.
This is the third time he has made the cut, after coming level 45th at Cardrona in Scotland and tied sixth at Bovey Castle, a performance that earned him more than £1,100.
Scoring was a great deal better than on Tuesday and four birdies in the first ten holes helped Cardrona winner Neil Walker also qualify for the third round.
Scottish players Callum Nicoll (Prestwick GC) and Jack Doherty both advanced into the final day as they each secured another round of one-under, to also end on two-under after Wednesday's play.
Benjamin Welch put himself back in contention for a high finish with a solid second day score of 69, including birdies at the first, fifth and 13th, to go on to one-under for the tournament.
This is only the second competition of the season that he has played in and will be hoping to claim more prize money after coming tied 20th last week at Bovey Castle in Devon.
Guy Woodman won the fourth event of the campaign at Collingtree Park, Northampton but that has been the only bright spot of the campaign for him. A double bogey at the par-four eighth, his second in two days, left him facing another early elimination as he missed the cut for the fourth time in five tournaments.
