Trio Tied For Lead As Vila Sol Bears Its Teeth - 29/11/2007

PGA EuroPro Tour stars David Fisher, Andrew Willey and Joe Templer fired stunning opening rounds of 68 to take the lead following the first round of the Vila Sol Barclays European Masters.

On a day when many players struggled to come to terms with the testing Vila Sol course, China Fleet Champion Andrew Willey set the pace, and Fisher and Templer matched him with fine afternoon performances.

Starting at the 10th, Marriot Sprowston Manor Champion David Fisher was three under par at the turn and produced a solid performance on the tricky front nine, one of the hardest stretches in World golf.

"I just absolutely love playing this golf course," commented Fisher. "It's in stunning condition and you have to concentrate 100% on every shot or you will be punished. I have put myself in a great position and it's up to me now to stay focused and confident and play like I know I can."

Dutch star Inder Van Weerelt lies a shot further back after an opening 69 while Collingtree Park winner Rob McGuirk sits at two-under par.
