Two Way Tie For Lead On Day One - 25/05/2008
JAMIE Donaldson and Kieran Staunton shared the lead after the first round of The 888.com Masters at the Stoke-by-Nayland GC, near Colchester.
Both players fired a five-under-par 67 on a day which brought sunny and warm conditions for the start of the latest event in the 2004 PGA EuroPro Tour calendar.
Donaldson (West Sussex), in his debut season, hit six birdies and bogey whilst Staunton (Woodcote Park) managed seven birdies and two bogeys.
An eagle and four birdies helped Denny Lucas of Worksop to a share of second place alongside Sam Jarman (Woburn) - the pair just a single shot behind.
And Gordon Sherry, the 1995 Amateur Champion and Walker Cup player, heads a group of six on three-under-par.
Play continues on Wednesday at Stoke-by-Nayland with the field battling to make the cut and put themselves in with a chance of securing the £10,000 winners' cheque.
