Ufford Park To Host 2006 UK Finale - 14/06/2007
THE PGA EuroPro Tour returns to Ufford Park GC this week for The MCP Classic, the final regular tournament of the 2006 season.
The tournament is the last in the PGA EuroPro Tour calendar before the Tour Championship takes place in The Azores later this month.
A total of 132 players, including most of the winners from this year's PGA EuroPro Tour, will compete at Ufford Park for a £40,000 prize fund.
Robert McGuirk, last year's winner at the Suffolk course, has not played on the PGA EuroPro Tour this year after suffering a leg injury.
Mark Smith and Daniel Gaunt, who finished two shots behind McGuirk and were the leading players in last year's Order of Merit, will head the field this time around.
They are joined by ex-PGA Tour player John Morgan, who was among almost 50 PGA EuroPro Tour members to win a place at Stage Two of European Tour Qualifying School recently.
The top 50 players in the Order of Merit after The MCP Classic will win a place in the 2006 Azores Tour Championship from 21-23 October.
"The season has been building to this point for some time and all players in the field at Ufford Park know that they can still earn a place at Batalha Golf Club later this month," said PGA EuroPro Tour Managing Director Eddie Hearn.
"Although it is almost a month since the players were last in action on the PGA EuroPro Tour, their success in European Tour Qualifying School means many will be on a high this week.
"Last year's tournament was a closely-contested event and I'm sure this will be no different looking at the calibre of players in the field."
The MCP Classic begins on Wednesday and the top 50 players after two rounds will progress to Friday's final round to compete for the £40,000 prize fund.
