Vila Sol Event Hailed - 26/11/2007

THE Vila Sol Barclays European Masters, which was held at the Portugal resort last week, has been hailed as a huge success.

The PGA EuroPro Tour made its first visit to the Algarve complex for the tournament, which was won by Antonio Sobrinho.

The Portuguese golfer also shot a course record 65 on his way to the victory at the end of a successful week at Vila Sol.

"The event was a massive success," said PGA EuroPro Tour Managing Director Eddie Hearn.

"It's one of the best courses I've ever seen and the feedback we've had from the players has been excellent.

"We had a course record too and a local winner, which made the tournament extra special for everybody who was involved.

"We're already looking forward to possibly returning to Vila Sol in 2006 for another PGA EuroPro Tour event."
