NEIL Walker continued his excellent start to the 2007 PGA EuroPro Tour season by sharing the lead after the first day of event six.
Walker, who won at Cardrona in Scotland and finished second at Wensum Valley, Norfolk, in May, ended on five-under after the opening round at Bovey Castle, Devon.
He is joined in first place by Daniel Wardrop (pictured right) of the Didsbury Golf Club (Manchester), while Welshman Mark Laskey, a runner-up at Faithlegg last month, is two shots behind in third.
Paul Hendriksen (Fingle Glen), South African Matthew Kent (Clovelly CC) and Ben O'Dell (Henley Golf Club) are all in equal fourth position on two-under.
There was a high-quality field as each of the top seven in the Order of Merit were taking part, including all four other previous winners in 2007 - Colm Moriarty (one-over), Brian McElhinney (will complete his second round on Wednesday), Graeme Clark (five-over) and Guy Woodman (eight-over).
However, a thunder and lightning storm delayed proceedings on the first day as more than 60 players could not complete their opening round on Tuesday.
A total of 153 players began the tournament and each player will also play a second round with the top 50 plus ties advancing into the final round on Thursday, June 21.
As with all EuroPro Tour events, Matchroom Sport will produce a two-hour highlights package, which will be shown on Sky Sports on Wednesday, July 4 and the following day.
The next event will be staged at the Stoke-by-Nayland Golf Club in Leavenheath, Colchester, Essex and will run from Tuesday, June 26 to Thursday, June 28.
