Walker Maintains Cushion - 26/08/2007
NEIL WALKER has maintained his lead at The Heydon Grange International Open, moving out to -11 to take a two-shot advantage into the final day of the PGA EuroPro Tour.
The Rotherham golfer opened with a 65 on Thursday, and followed that up with a four-under-par 68 in the second round.
He leads by two shots from Martin Sell going into the final day at Heydon Grange, and admitted he is excited by his displays this week.
"I've never experienced this before as a professional but it's my first year on the PGA EuroPro Tour and I'm learning all the time," said Walker.
"I'm not too worried for Saturday. It's all experience and I'll look to take that out of it.
"Today I tried to play pretty much the same as yesterday, I only went into the rough once off the tee, and that led to a bogey on the 17th.
"I kept it nice and straight off the tee, and chipped and putted nicely so I'm pleased."
Sell produced a day's best round of 66 to move into second place at -9, and his round was equalled by Jason Levermore.
In windy conditions, a 67 from John Bandurak saw him move clear in third place at -8.
A total of 57 players made the cut, which was set at level par.
Play at Heydon Grange is scheduled to finish ahead of the start of England's World Cup campaign on Saturday - with fans welcome at the Cambridgeshire course for the conclusion of the tournament.
