Weather Disrupts Azores Tour Championship - 04/06/2007
THE opening day of The Azores Tour Championship was decimated by the weather on Saturday, with play abandoned at 4pm at Batalha GC.
The first morning of the PGA EuroPro Tour season finale was disrupted by a suspension to play due to high winds and heavy rain.
Later thunder storms forced tournament officials to abandon play for the day late on Saturday afternoon.
A 9am restart on Sunday is planned for players to complete their opening round, with a two-tee start for round two provisionally planned for 1pm.
Bridgnorth's David James is the clubhouse leader at -2, after hitting three birdies in his opening round.
Lee Wood was the only other player below par following his opening round 71 to sit at -1, with Jack Doherty, Graeme Brown, Roger Winchester and Ian Walley finishing at one over par.
