Weather Makes Hard Work On Day One - 23/04/2008

COLD WEATHER and strong winds combined to make low scoring hard to come by on the first day of the 888.com European Trophy at Bidford Grange.

In the end four players shared the lead after two-under-par rounds of 72. Colm Moriarty (Glasson Golf Hotel & Country Club) shot two birdies without any bogeys as he took advantage of calmer winds at the end of his round.

Ciaran McMonagle (Dunfanaghy GC) made birdies and three bogeys, as did Jack Doherty (Vale of Glamorgan) whilst Michael Hoey (PSP) made three birdies and one bogey.

A single shot behind, Michael Welch (Hawkstone Park) and James Holmes (Mornflake Oats/Whitby Morrison) are on one-under-par 71.
