Woods Maintains Cushion - 22/09/2007

MATTHEW WOODS will hold a two-shot lead going into the final round of the Wensum Valley International Open.

The Donnington Grove star produced a brilliant 65 to open his challenge for the tournament, and followed that up with a mixed round of 71 on Thursday.

He hit six birdies, but had two bogeys and a treble-bogey to marr his card.

Woods leads by two shots from David Fisher, with the Ellesborough golfer producing a superb 67 to move out to -6.

Joe Templer carded the day's best score, with a 65 putting him alongside Chris Evans and Michael Searle at -5.

Damian Mooney followed up his opening round 68 with a level par 72 to leave himself on -4, with eight players a shot behind.

Sandeep Grewal's excellent 66 ensured that he was among the 56 players to make the cut, which was at at one-over-par.
